The JKD bow (Ging Lie) should be done before and after each training session. The primary reason for the bow is to show respect for all styles of martial arts and appreciation for what you are learning. It is also used to show respect for the instructor, Jeet Kune do, and each other (just in case someone gets hurt during training). My bow is a little different because I like to include the Hoy Sick (stance opening) sequence of Wing Chun Gung Fu, my base system, the foundation of my training, and my love for JKD. Each movement in the bow represents an actual combative technique. Extra movements are also shown, because the different instructors that I have trained with have all had unique bows. I combined all of their movements into my own bow, which consequently has deep meaning.
